Excerpt from "The Silent Treatment"
by Jonathan Nicholas
The Oregonian, October 11, 2000

"Vivek Maddala has won Turner Classic Movies' Young Film Composers
Competition. The grand prize: He got to score the 1921 Lon Chaney
movie, 'The Ace of Hearts.' Maddala, 26, [spent] six weeks, working 20 hours
each day, to create the 700-page score. As for the movie, the composer
says, 'It's not nearly as corny as you might think.'"
